# Bug tasks

> Count of tasks tagged as bugs

## How it works

Counts tasks tagged as bugs in your project management tools (such as Linear, Jira, and Asana), whatever their status. A task counts when one of its labels, tags, or issue types contains the word "bug" or "bugs", and it's counted in the period when the task was created.

For additional context, see [bug ratio](/metrics/bug-ratio) (percentage of output spent on bugs) and [bugs introduced](/metrics/bugs-introduced) (source of bugs).
