Team hierarchy
If your team has child teams, the report includes data from all descendant teams in the hierarchy.
When people change teams
Weave keeps a history of when each person joined and left a team. Team metrics such as PR cycle time and task lead time count a person’s work for the team they were on when the work happened, not the team they are on today.
- Moving someone to a new team doesn’t move their past work. Earlier months stay with their previous team.
- A newly created team only shows data from the date its members joined it. Months before that are empty for the new team.
- Before Weave started recording team history for your organization, work is counted for each person’s current teams.
This keeps past months stable when your team structure changes.
Attributing history to current members
Admins can instead have each team show the full history of its current members. Turn on Attribute history to current members under Settings → Teams → Team history.
- Moving someone to a new team moves all their past work with them. Their previous team no longer counts any of it.
- People who have left a team no longer count toward it, for any month.
- A person’s history starts on their start date in Weave.
- Observers are still excluded, and parent teams still include their child teams’ current members.
The R&D capitalization report always counts work toward the team a person was on when it happened. Last modified on October 14, 2026
