Access and permissions

How access works

When you connect or reconnect Notion, you choose which pages, databases, and workspaces Weave can access during the OAuth flow. This selection determines exactly what Weave can see.
Each time you reconnect the integration, your access selection replaces any prior access. Weave will only sync content from your most recent authorization.Previously synced data remains in Weave, but new syncs will only include currently authorized content.

What Weave can access

Weave only requests read permissions:
  • Read pages — View page content and properties
  • Read databases — View database structure and entries
  • Read comments — View comments on pages
  • Read users — Identify who made edits and comments
Weave does not write to or modify your Notion workspace.

Updating access

To change which pages or databases Weave can access:
  1. Go to Data and find the Notion connection
  2. Click Reconnect
  3. Select the new set of pages and databases to share
  4. Authorize the updated connection
Reconnecting replaces your previous access selection entirely. Make sure to include all content you want Weave to track.

Metrics enabled

Once connected, Weave tracks documentation activity. See Documentation metrics for details on:
  • Doc activities - Count of page edits and comments (page creates, archives, restores, and edits with no content change aren’t counted by default)
  • Doc words modified - Volume of documentation changes
  • Substantialness ratios - Proportion of major, medium, and minor changes
  • Technical ratio - Balance of technical vs non-technical documentation
These metrics help you understand who is contributing to documentation, how substantial those contributions are, and how documentation activity trends over time.
