Features

  • Automated reports - Weekly and daily team summaries delivered to Slack channels
  • Individual reports - Personalized weekly DMs to each team member

What’s synced

Weave syncs the following data from your Slack workspace:
Message content is only used to generate communication insights like response times and collaboration patterns. Weave does not store or display individual message content.

Metrics enabled

Once connected, Weave tracks conversation patterns in your Slack workspace. See Slack conversations for details on:
  • Slack threads - Number of threads started by team members
  • Slack thread response time - Median time for team members to respond to threads
These metrics help you understand communication volume, team responsiveness, and collaboration patterns across your channels.
Metrics include threads in private channels the Weave bot has been added to, and in public channels where the Weave bot or a Slack user who connected their account to Weave is a member. Bot-initiated threads and bot responses are excluded.

Connecting Slack

1

Start connection

Go to the Data page and click Connect on Slack
2

Authorize Weave

Sign in to Slack and authorize the Weave app. You’ll be asked to approve both bot and user permissions.
3

Select workspace

Confirm the workspace to connect. You can connect multiple workspaces if needed.
4

Auto-match accounts

Weave automatically links Slack users to Weave accounts by matching email or name

Slack reports

Weave can send automated reports to Slack. Configure these in Settings > Notifications. All reports include customizable metrics — for example, code output, PR volume, review turnaround, output per engineer, stale PRs, and output waiting for review. Channel reports let you choose the destination channel and schedule. Individual reports are sent in each user’s timezone. For PR notifications, you can set a code output threshold—only PRs exceeding this value trigger a notification.

AI assistant

Mention the Weave bot in any channel or send it a DM to ask questions about your team’s metrics. Example questions:
  • “What was our team’s code output last week?”
  • “Who had the most PR reviews this sprint?”
  • “Show me the trend for cycle time”
The AI assistant requires Team Lead role or higher to use.

Permissions

Weave requests the following Slack permissions:

Bot permissions

User permissions

Troubleshooting

Reports not sending

  1. Verify the Slack connection is active on the Data page
  2. Check the report is configured with a valid channel
  3. Ensure the Weave bot is added to the target channel

Missing channels

Private channels only appear if the Weave bot has been added to them. Invite the bot by mentioning @Weave in the channel.

Users not matching

Weave matches Slack users to accounts by email. If a user isn’t linked:
  1. Ensure their Slack email matches their Weave account email
  2. Re-sync the Slack workspace from the Data page

Disconnecting Slack

To disconnect Slack, contact Weave support at support@workweave.ai. Slack connections are managed at the organization level and require support assistance to remove. To revoke Weave’s access from the Slack side, go to your Slack workspace settings and remove the Weave app under Settings & administration > Manage apps.
